Chennai: In yet another incident of live-in partner killing, a 60-year-old man allegedly set ablaze 48-year-old woman after she stopped meeting him. The incident took place in Otteri on Thursday. The woman succumbed the burn injuries while the man, an autorickshaw driver, is being treated for 41% burns.
Police said that the couple, Selvi and Subramani have been living together for 20 years. However, due to some reason, Selvi tried to break off their relationship and Subramani was against the same.
On Thursday, Selvi had gone to visit her daughter in Otteri and Subramani reached there and began an argument with her, a report in Times of India stated.
Angry over Selvi, the man tried to torch her. The woman's son-in-law rushed to rescue her and also suffered burn injuries. They were all taken to hospital where the woman died and the two men are being treated for injuries.
